LOCATION DESCRIPTION / In-person: Join Alabama Audubon in celebrating Birdability Week this year from October 21-27, 2024! This week-long event is dedicated to making birding accessible and enjoyable for everyone, regardless of ability. Black Belt Coordinator Tim Higgins and Program Coordinator Andrew Lydeard will host a Big Sit on the beautiful property of Contentment, located in Greensboro, Alabama. Participants are encouraged to join us during the event for as little or as long as preferred. Coffee and light breakfast foods will be provided.
Contentment is a lovely family home built in the early 20th century just south of Greensboro. We will sit on the large screened porch and watch the feeders and yard for fall migrants and winter residents. Expected feeder birds include oodles of Northern Cardinals, Carolina Wrens, and even White-winged Doves while the yard can have Gray Catbirds, Brown Thrashers, and multiple species of Woodpeckers. Andrew will lead a short Out-and-Back Walk around the yard and visit the prairie restoration at 9:00 am to see what other birds are hanging around. The porch is fully wheelchair accessible, and seating is available for everyone. However, this is a private residence and restrooms are not available, so please plan accordingly.
