LOCATION DESCRIPTION / In-person: It's that time of year again - all the warblers look the same! As most of us know, warblers in their breeding plumages can still be a task to view and identify due to their quick and elusive nature, usually well above our heads, and offer few good looks for a reliable identification. When fall comes back around, this task becomes even tougher as many of these birds molt into non-breeding plumage that can be very similar in shades of greens, grays, and yellows among the various species present.
Join Program Coordinator to crack the code of this tricky group during the second installment of the Confusing Fall Warblers Field Lab, this time at Monte Sano State Park in Huntsville. We will meet at the famous park overlook, Monte Sano’s North Plateau, close to sunrise to count and try to identify as many transient warblers (and anything else flying by) as we can! Most of our time will be spent at the overlook, but if migration slows here, we may walk to other parts of the park and hunt for mixed flocks and work on key ID skills!
LOCATION DETAILS / In-person: There are restrooms located in the park but not next to the overlook, so please plan accordingly.
